The RoughRiders have strung together a winning streak and have reached the 11 win mark to get to 11-29. Their starting pitching and hitting have hit their stride as of late and they did it on the road against a very good Midland team. Frisco has won three in a row and 4 of their last 6 games, all on the road against the Missions and the Rockhounds. Jurado, Payano and Martin delivered great pitching performances and continue to make strides. Payano and Martin seem to have found their groove after struggling to start the season. The bullpen has continued their surge and most importantly the bats have come around as well.
Despite having a losing record of 11-29, the Riders have been in a lot of close games and have dealt with some injuries and of course call ups to Round Rock and the Show. The promotions of Ronald Guzman, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Scott Heineman and most recently Brady Feigl certainly affects the production of the team but it also means the future is very bright and the young talent of the organization will continue to go through Frisco. Fans and coaches will get to see many players continue to develop and progress as the season continues.
Hunter Cole, Michael O’Neill, Jose Treviño and Carlos Tocci on a rehab assignment have been critical in the Riders three game win streak. They look to continue to play well in a 4 game home stand against the Corpus Christi Hooks who are on a six game win streak of their own and only one game behind the Missions in the Texas League South standings. Richelson Peña will get the ball for the Riders on Friday night May 18, 2018 as he looks to improve his 1-3 record and 3.69 ERA. Peña went 6 strong in his last outing against the Missions on May 12th, only allowing 1 run on 8 hits and three strikeouts, but did not factor in the decision.
