#ICYMI the College Football Playoff 🏆 rankings are out and Texas A&M Football Aggies had made it in the Top 4 and are certain to fall in those rankings tomorrow after a bad loss to a mediocre Mississippi State team 35-28. Who will take their spot, the surprising Huskies or the Ohio State Buckeyes after annihilating the Cornhuskers 62-3? Who has a stronger case?
Meanwhile the #17 Baylor Bears 🐻 got man-handled by unranked TCU Football 62-22 in Waco 🤔. The post Briles era started off fairly well and now after a loss to Texas and TCU, it looks there will be some rebuilding going on by the Brazos .
Charlie Strong had another impressive win over a high-octane offense, this time in Lubbock, as Texas Longhorn football earns their first road victory over the Red Raiders, 45-37. D'Onta Foreman continues to shine out of the backfield as he handles a heavy workload (33 carries) to the tune of 341 yards rushing and 3 TD's. The talk about Charlie Strong's job security should be squashed, it shouldn't have even been brought up. #TrustTheProcess #StrongAndSmart Expect Texas to close out strong and win a bowl game. Keep Herman in Houston!
Chad Morris' SMU Football Mustangs 🐴 had a letdown against conference foe Memphis Tigers football 51-7 after a huge upset over Houston and last week's win over Tulane Football. It wasn't pretty from the beginning as Memphis set the tone early on both sides of the ball forcing 3 Mustang turnovers and never looking back. #SMU will have to win two of their next three games including games against very tough South Florida and Navy teams to become bowl eligible.
The Dallas Mavericks got their first win 🕺 of the season in OT over the young and upstart Milwaukee Bucks, but it wasn't pretty and not exactly an offensive clinic but a W nonetheless 86-75. With ailing starters D-Will and Dirk Nowitzki 🇩🇪 sitting out, Harrison Barnes continues to score the ball well 🏀⛹ and mature offensively as this team's go-to guy. He had a career-high 34 points and JJ added 21 points along with a Dak Prescott-type assist to Wesley Matthews in OT to seal the victory. It'll be an uphill battle all season for the #Mavs but this win could be a huge boost to their confidence. They'll travel to Staples Center tomorrow night to take on the surprising LA Lakers who are 3-0 at home.
The now 7-1 Dallas Cowboys 🤠 continue to turn heads in the NFL as they demolish the winless Browns in Cleveland, 35-10. That poor city has taken a beating as of late. They still have the NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliersthough, they're 6-0 to start their season. The #Boyz will face a very tough test, maybe their toughest this season as they travel to Heinz Field to take on the reeling The Pittsburgh Steelers who will have #BigBen under center. Mike Tomlin will have the The Pittsburgh Steelers ready to play and this is a desperate team looking for a boost and beating the NFC leading Cowboys will do just that. If the Cowboys pull this one off, they just might be destined for something BIG this season.
The Stars can't build on that big win against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night as they lose a home and away against the Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2 at home and 4-3 in OT in Chicago last night. It was only fitting as the Cubbies were honored, and it translated into the Hawks flying the W in OT after a Hossa game winner. The 22 year old center Gemel Smith scored his first 2 NHL goals 🏒 in the loss. Dallas hasn't been able to get any rhythm going and they look to get back on track against the Jets on Tuesday night.
Plenty to look forward to in the coming month as the NBA and NHL regular seasons get into full swing and college basketball gets underway and of course college football and the NFL seasons heat up. Follow us on Twitter @TxSportsBlog
