The Warriors came into Game 5 facing a situation they hadn't faced in quite some time, elimination and being forced to watch the NBA Finals from home. Golden State came out aggressive and lead for most of the game behind the 31 points from MVP Steph Curry and 27 from Klay Thompson. The difference was the play of Andrew Bogut who contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds while staying out of foul trouble. Draymond Green was again very "acrobatic" but showed glimpses of his play earlier in the postseason with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Hats off to the Oklahoma City Thunder who could have very easily folded their hand after falling behind late. They continued to push and still had the opportunity to win and close out the Warriors in the 4th quarter but had some costly turnovers and Curry burned them late. Russell Westbrook continues to shine as he matched Curry with 31 points and added 8 assists and Kevin Durant 40 points and 7 rebounds. The rebounds were even at 45 but Andre Roberson and Dion Waiters were non factors and Serge Ibaka was relatively quiet with the exception of two big 3's, and that proved to be the difference in the game.
If the Thunder are going to win this series they'll need to finish the job at home. If Golden State steals one in Oklahoma and extends this series to a deciding Game 7 at Oracle Arena, it won't look good for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Billy Donovan looks like a genius and a hero right now, the Thunder faithful are hoping his good fortune continues tomorrow night from Chesapeake Energy Arena. Some more food for thought, if the Western Conference Finals goes to a Game 7, it could be the last time Oklahoma City sees Kevin Durant in a Thunder uniform. I'm just throwing that out there, don't rule it out. You'll want to be watching tomorrow night on TNT at 8:00 PM CST.
